Google’s on a roll today with its device releases on the Play Store today. We already have the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play editionand the new white Nexus 7 2013available for purchase, and now Google has partnered with Sony to release the Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition.

This device is huge, bearing a 6.4-inch display with a 1920×1080 resolution. It features a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with a microSD slot, an 8MP rear Exmor RS sensor, a 2MP front facing camera, a 3,000 mAh battery, and of course KitKat. It’s also super thin, at only 6.5mm. Unfortunately, the price is quite steep at $649.

This device is fully carrier unlocked with support for both AT&T and T-Mobile, LTE included. It’s also bootloader unlocked, as Google Play edition devices always are, giving you the freedom to do what you want. And of course, as with all Google Play edition devices, updates should come fast. Looking back at the current GPe devices, updates have come very fast. It’s Sony hardware with the stock Android experience, something we haven’t seen before and are excited to try for ourselves. Do you like the Sony Z Ultra GPe? Can the price of $649 be justified? Leave a comment!
